Iyimaya served as a DYP Deputy for 2 terms and as an AK Party Deputy for 4 terms. He was elected as the Amasya MP from the True Path Party in the 20th and 21st terms, and as the Ankara MP from the AK Party in the 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th terms.

During his time in office, Iyimaya made significant contributions to Turkish politics, serving as the Chairman of the Justice Commission in the 23rd and 24th terms. He also played a key role as a member of the Constitutional Reconciliation Commission.

Iyimaya was married and had three children. His passing is a great loss to the Turkish political community, and he will be remembered for his dedication and service to the country. May he rest in peace.
