Former Director of Alfa Telecom Detained for Violations in Procurement System
Bishkek – The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has detained the former general director of Alfa Telecom CJSC after revealing violations in the company’s procurement system. The SCNS press center reported that the responsible individuals at Alfa Telecom CJSC collaborated with private companies to create favorable conditions for them in advance, ensuring their victory in ongoing tenders. It was found that these same companies frequently won the tenders.
Examinations conducted during the investigation uncovered overpricing of the purchased equipment, resulting in multimillion-dollar losses to the state. Based on the evidence obtained, the former general director, Bazarkulov Azat Temirkanovich, was arrested and is suspected of committing a crime under Article 245 (abuse of authority by employees of commercial or other organizations) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. He has been placed in the temporary detention center of the SCNS, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to publicly available data, Bazarkulov Azat Temirkanovich served as the company’s director from 2012 to 2018 and again in 2021-2022.
The SCNS is taking this case seriously and aims to hold all individuals involved accountable for their actions. The investigation will continue to gather more evidence and uncover any other potential violations in the procurement system.
