French Court Upholds Ruling Against Closing Muslim Schools

The closure decision taken by the Alpes-Maritimes Governorship regarding the Ibn Sina Secondary School in the city of Nice, France has been overturned by the Nice Administrative Court. This decision comes after the school was accused of “uncertainty in financial resources” and faced the threat of closure.

Sefen Guez Guez, the lawyer representing the school, along with the school’s principal Otmane Aissaoui, shared a joint statement on social media announcing the court’s ruling. The court not only dismissed the accusation against the school but also ordered the Governorship to pay 1500 euros to cover court costs.

The Ibn Sina Secondary School, the only private school for Muslims in the region, was at risk of closure following the decision made on March 15 by the Alpes-Maritimes Governorship. The school was under scrutiny for allegedly not clearly reporting its financial resources, leading to concerns over its operational capabilities.

With this latest development, the school can continue to operate and serve its students without the looming threat of closure. This decision is seen as a victory for the school and its supporters, providing relief and allowing the educational institution to move forward with its mission.
