Friday Prayer Time in Istanbul on May 12 announced by Diyanet
The Diyanet, Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs, recently shared the Friday prayer times for various cities in the country. The announcement revealed that the Friday prayer will be held at the time of the noon prayer. In Istanbul, the Friday prayer for May 12, 2023, is scheduled to be at 13:05. The prayer will be held at 12:50 in Ankara, 13:13 in Izmir, and 13:05 in Bursa. The Friday prayer is a mandatory congregational prayer for Muslims, and it is believed to have been made obligatory during the hijra with the descent of Surat al-Jumu’ah. The first Friday sermon was recited by Prophet Muhammad in the Banu Salim Masjid in a valley called Ranuna, Medina, and it led the first Friday prayer. Unlike the five daily prayers, the Friday prayer must be performed in congregation, and it is legitimate for both men and women. However, due to legitimate excuses, both genders are allowed not to attend Friday prayers.
