Gaza Continues to Suffer Heavy Bombardment during Israeli Attacks on 22nd Day

Israeli Forces Hit Northern Gaza, Cutting Off Communication Services
In a recent development, Israeli forces have launched artillery fire on northern Gaza, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA. The attacks targeted Al-Shati and Nuseyrat refugee camps, as well as houses in Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and other areas in eastern Gaza. These airstrikes have resulted in a complete disruption of landline, mobile phone, and internet communication services in the region, leaving the residents isolated and cut off from the outside world. Additionally, the attacks have caused a widespread power outage, further exacerbating the situation.
Due to the intensity of the Israeli attacks, civil defense teams and ambulances are unable to reach the affected areas, making it impossible to obtain accurate information about the casualties. The lack of communication and power has hindered the efforts of emergency response teams in providing immediate assistance to those in need. The current situation poses a significant challenge in effectively addressing the emergencies arising from the Israeli airstrikes.
Concerns have been raised by the Palestinian Journalists Union regarding the safety of journalists in Gaza. As internet and telephone services remain disrupted, the union warns that Israel may carry out a “massacre” targeting journalists. The union’s written statement highlights that Israel has already been responsible for the deaths of more than 20 journalists, along with their families. Furthermore, dozens of media institutions have been deliberately targeted by Israel, an action that is perceived as an attempt to prevent journalists from reporting on the crimes being committed in Gaza.
The statement emphasizes the need for action from international organizations affiliated with the United Nations (UN). The Palestinian Journalists Union calls on these organizations to intervene promptly to prevent the loss of “witnesses of the truth”. They also urge the international community to address the issue of the unequal treatment and double standards applied when equating the executioner with the victim.
The escalation in Israeli attacks on northern Gaza and the resulting disruptions in communication services and power supply have both immediate and long-term consequences. The international community must step in urgently to address this humanitarian crisis and safeguard the rights and safety of the affected Palestinian population.
