The Department of State has issued a warning for U.S. citizens worldwide due to the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, and violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests. In addition, there is an increased potential for foreign terrorist organization-inspired violence against LGBTQI+ persons and events.
U.S. citizens overseas are advised to exercise increased caution and take the following precautions:
– Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists, including Pride celebrations and venues frequented by LGBTQI+ persons.
– Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts, and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
– Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter for updates and advisories.
