Government postpons license requirement for mopeds and scooters until October.
Starting in October, riders of mopeds and scooters will be required to obtain a category A driver’s license. This new regulation was initially set to take effect by March 1, 2025, but the implementation has been pushed back by six months, as per a government resolution.
The licensing requirement applies to mopeds and scooters with engine displacements ranging from 25 cm³ to 50 cm³, electric motor power between 0.25 kW and 4 kW, and design speeds between 25 km/h and 50 km/h. This means that riders operating such vehicles without a license will face penalties starting in October.
It is important for current moped and scooter riders to take note of this upcoming change and ensure they obtain the necessary driver’s license before the deadline. This regulation is aimed at promoting safer riding practices and ensuring that all riders have the appropriate skills and knowledge to operate these vehicles on the road.
