Government’s Initiative: Creating Jobs for 2 Million Women by 2025

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has made a commitment to empower women by focusing on their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. At an event held at the Kuksaroy residence in honor of International Women’s Day on March 7, the President highlighted the importance of ensuring women have access to work and are encouraged to start their own businesses.
Mirziyoyev announced a goal to create employment opportunities for 2 million women this year, with 1.3 million of them being engaged in entrepreneurship. Commercial banks in Uzbekistan will offer favorable financial packages tailored to support women in their business ventures.
The National Bank will support projects for at least 200,000 women in the service sector, while Turonbank JSCB will provide affordable loans for 150,000 women involved in lemon farming. Microcreditbank JSCB, SQB JSCB, Xalq Banki, Agrobank, Business Development Bank, Asakabank, and Aloqabank will also assist women in various sectors such as poultry industry, vegetable cultivation, horticulture, greens production, pharmaceuticals, viticulture, IT, beekeeping, and fruit cultivation.
To further support women’s entrepreneurial projects, an additional 3.3 trillion UZS will be allocated this year. Family entrepreneurship programs will receive an additional $100 million in funding, with commercial banks raising another $100 million to provide interest-free loans up to 50 million UZS to self-employed women.
Hamroh, a company established last year, has launched a new program to support female entrepreneurs with an allocation of $100 million.
With these initiatives and support systems in place, Uzbekistan is striving to create a more inclusive and prosperous environment for women in the workforce and business world.
