Healthcare workers march to declare their demands – Latest News from Turkey
Healthcare workers in Turkey are standing up for their rights and demanding safer working environments. Recently, a group of healthcare workers gathered in front of Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital in Kadıköy and marched to Kadıköy Pier Square with powerful slogans in hand.
Carrying banners that read “Health institutions remain standing, let humanity survive” and “We want to practice good medicine in a non-violent, safe and secure environment”, the group also took a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş and in acts of violence against healthcare workers.
Dr. Saffet Ercan, speaking on behalf of the group, emphasized the need for a healthcare environment that is free of violence, safe, and provides democratic working conditions that are accessible to the public.
One of the key demands of the group is the acceptance of the Turkish Medical Association’s bill on violence in healthcare. Ercan highlighted the importance of improving the working conditions of healthcare workers to prevent errors in patient care.
Additionally, Ercan outlined the group’s demands on issues such as salary increases, actual service time adjustments, additional indicators, and raising the tax bracket upper limit for healthcare workers.
The healthcare workers are advocating for a safer and more supportive environment for their profession, highlighting the need for reforms to ensure their well-being and the quality of care they provide. Their voices continue to be heard as they push for change and raise awareness about the challenges they face in their daily work.
