Strengthening Interfaith Relations: President Aliyev Meets Patriarch Kirill in Baku
In a significant diplomatic encounter, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Baku on Saturday. This meeting underscored the role of the Orthodox community in fostering positive interstate relations.
President Aliyev highlighted the importance of interfaith and interethnic harmony, stating, "In our comprehensive exchange on this issue, we spoke about the interfaith and interethnic peace, understanding, and mutual support in Azerbaijan. This is an essential factor in the sustainable development of our countries."
The president expressed gratitude for the Orthodox community’s contributions, particularly the active involvement of the Russian community in Azerbaijan’s growth. "We are very glad that the Orthodox community, as representatives of the Russian community, actively participates in the development of our country, contributing to its sovereignty and territorial integrity," he noted.
