Imamoglu Assures Safety in Recent Statement
The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has testified in the prosecution’s statement regarding terrorism and corruption operations. İmamoğlu was asked 36 questions during his 4-hour and 15-minute testimony, where he stated that he would only answer the questions he deemed necessary.
One of the first questions posed to İmamoğlu was about benefiting from effective regret provisions, to which he replied that he did not want to benefit from them as he had not committed any crimes. He also touched upon the fact that past mayors of Istanbul did not participate in tenders or sign the results.
When asked about secret witnesses and the MASAK report, İmamoğlu responded by either stating that he did not understand the question or that he had not seen the report. He also addressed the issue of HTS records and explained that his constant movement around different districts of Istanbul was due to his public duties as mayor.
After his testimony, İmamoğlu expressed his disappointment in the questions asked, stating that they showcased the fabrication of lies and conspiracy theories that harm the reputation of Turkey.
Despite the tough questioning and accusations, İmamoğlu vowed to not only defend himself but also to ensure that justice prevails for the people of Istanbul. He promised to fight for his rights and the rights of the 16 million residents of Istanbul who have been affected by these allegations.
