Incorporating Artificial Intelligence into New Educational Standard in Kazakhstan
The National Academy of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced that elements of artificial intelligence (AI) will be integrated into the new educational standard set to come into effect in 2026. This move comes in response to the increasing importance of AI in global development and the need to prepare students for the future job market.
Ruslan Karatabanov, Vice President of the National Academy of Education, highlighted the significance of including AI in the educational curriculum. He stated that AI is a driving force in global development and cannot be ignored. With concerns about AI potentially displacing certain professions while creating new ones, it is essential to equip students with the necessary skills to navigate this changing landscape.
The new educational standard will introduce AI-based tools and work methods across various subjects. For example, virtual laboratories will be integrated into biology, chemistry, and physics classes. Language courses will incorporate applications that facilitate conversation and dialogue, while geography lessons will utilize navigation systems.
Karatabanov emphasized that the focus will be on both generative and non-generative AI to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of AI technologies. By integrating AI into the curriculum, students will develop the skills needed to thrive in a future where AI plays a significant role in various industries.
As Kazakhstan prepares to implement the new educational standard in 2026, the inclusion of AI will ensure that students are equipped to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.
