Indian PM Modi to visit USA in June

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received an invitation for an official state visit from US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden. The visit will be on June 22, and Modi will be attending a special dinner with the Bidens the day before the welcoming ceremony and state dinner, which will start with a 21-gun cannon in the garden of the White House. During the Biden couple’s welcome, over 7,000 Indian Americans are expected to meet Modi at the White House and Lafayette Park.

John Kirby, the White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator, stated that it was unclear whether Biden and Modi would hold a joint press conference during the visit. Kirby added that there was a lot to talk about, and he was looking forward to the visit and the partnership between the US and India in the defense field and cooperation with the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue and the Indo-Pacific.

As part of his US contacts, Modi is also scheduled to meet with senior company executives at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington. Additionally, he was invited by the House of Representatives and Senate to speak at the joint session of the US Congress on June 22, which would be Modi’s second time speaking in the US Congress and the first Indian prime minister to do so twice.
