Tianjin to Host SCO Summit Parallel Event on Sustainable Development
Tianjin will be hosting the first parallel event of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit from April 9th to 11th, 2025. This event, organized as part of the Global Development Initiative, will focus on promoting investment in sustainable development.
The event is expected to see the participation of around 400 representatives from governments and enterprises of SCO member states, as well as Chinese state-owned and private companies. The agenda includes the ninth meeting of the Special Working Group on Investment and a conference on “China – SCO” sustainable development industrial cooperation. The primary objective is to showcase sustainable development programs and explore cooperation opportunities in key sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and the mining industry.
This event marks an essential milestone in the run-up to the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO member states, scheduled to take place in Tianjin in the autumn of 2025. China, currently holding the rotating chairmanship of the SCO for the years 2024-2025, aims to enhance cooperation among member states in the realm of sustainable development and attract investments for collaborative projects.
With a focus on sustainable development and fostering cooperation, this event in Tianjin sets the stage for significant discussions and initiatives that can pave the way for a more sustainable future for the SCO region.
