Chui Electric Networks Plans to Install Over 100,000 “Smart” Meters in 2025

Bishkek – 14:44, February 6, 2025 – The Chui electric networks enterprise, a branch of NENK OJSC, has announced plans to install 119,500 automated information and measuring systems for electricity metering, also known as “smart” meters, in 2025. This initiative aims to modernize the energy infrastructure of the Kyrgyz Republic and improve the efficiency of electricity consumption.

The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic has reported that the installation of the first 5,800 smart meters has already begun in Chui, Issyk-Ata, Alamedin, Sokuluk, and Moskovsky districts of Chui region. These smart meters will allow for remote reading of meter data without disrupting consumers, as well as the capability to remotely disconnect and reconnect consumers as needed.

Currently, more than 88,000 smart meters have been successfully installed in Chui region, showcasing the progress and advancements in the modernization of the energy sector. This project is expected to significantly enhance the monitoring and management of electricity consumption, leading to improved service delivery and greater energy efficiency for consumers in the region.
