Introducing New Electricity Billing System from August 1

A new billing system has been introduced in Uzbekistan to monitor consumer complaints and suggestions related to electricity payments. The system, which has been piloted in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent, aims to provide more transparency and efficiency in billing processes.
According to the first deputy of “Territorial Electricity Networks” JSC Anvar Gaybullayev, the new payment system will be implemented nationwide from August 1 of this year. The current system, introduced in 2012, will be replaced by a more modern settlement system to better serve consumers.
The new system will include information such as cadastral data of subscribers and the number of meters registered under one person’s name. It will also record consumer complaints and suggestions to facilitate control work. Different billing methods will be introduced to ensure fair and accurate payments.
In addition, a mobile application is being developed to allow consumers to access payment data and electricity consumption information online. The company has reported that 90% of subscribers are already equipped with “smart” meters, with plans to provide the remaining consumers with smart meters by August 1.
Despite the challenges of increasing population and growth in housing and production, the goal is to reach 100% coverage of smart meters for all 8.5 million subscribers in the country. This initiative aligns with previous discussions about introducing a single billing account for electricity, gas, water, heat, garbage, rent, and tax payments based on foreign experiences.
Overall, the new billing system aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction in the electricity payment process. By incorporating modern technology and feedback mechanisms, Uzbekistan is taking steps towards enhancing its utility services for the benefit of all consumers.
