Introduction of “Labor Market Guide” at Ledra Palace Hotel Event – BRTK
The Cyprus Dialogue Forum recently unveiled a new digital database called the ‘Labor Market Guide’, which provides essential economic and labor-related information for the island. The launch event took place at the Ledra Palace Hotel, where various stakeholders and representatives shared their perspectives on the significance of this initiative.
For the first time in Cyprus, a joint labor market statistics and database have been established on a common platform to foster better understanding and collaboration between different sectors. UN Secretary General Cyprus Special Representative Colin Stewart emphasized the importance of initiatives like the ‘Labor Market Guide’ in overcoming economic challenges and promoting inter-communal interaction.
Giulia Bertezzolo, President of the European Commission Cyprus Solution Support Unit, highlighted the critical role of the guide in identifying evidence-based policies and addressing existing problems. She underscored the need for informed decision-making and the guide’s potential to facilitate constructive dialogue between communities.
Sotiroulla Charalambous, Secretary General of Cyprus Labor Federation (PEO), expressed optimism about the guide’s potential to support ongoing negotiations and promote a unified approach to social security. Semih Kolozali, President of the Federation of Revolutionary Workers’ Unions (Dev-İş), emphasized the importance of social and economic relations in achieving sustainable solutions.
The ‘Labor Market Guide’ received praise from various organizations, including the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry (KTSO) and the Cyprus Employer and Industrial Association (OEB), for its comprehensive approach to economic harmony and labor market development. The guide’s availability in multiple languages and online accessibility further enhances its utility for a wide range of stakeholders.
