Invalid Ballot Boxes Warned; Choose Your Voting Station Carefully
The Turkish government has launched the ‘Domestic Voter Registration Inquiry’ screen to help citizens easily locate their designated polling stations. The online platform, available via the YSK and e-Government portals, enables voters to confirm the exact location and ballot box for their voter information.
It is crucial that voters know their polling station beforehand to avoid confusion on election day. The voter data sheet is not mandatory, and missing voters can access their information through e-Government, the YSK’s website, mobile application, or call center.
Voters must bring a valid photo ID that shows their Republic of Turkey ID number to the polling station. Acceptable types of ID are an ID card issued by official offices, passports, marriage certificates, military service certificates, driver’s licenses, professional identity cards for judges and prosecutors, notaries, lawyers, and military identity cards. Without proper identification, they will not be allowed to vote.
Polling stations will open from 8:00 am and close at 5:00 pm, with no new voters allowed inside the voting area past 5:00 pm. Voters should not bring communication devices such as mobile phones, cameras or film cameras to the polling station, as using them is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, the voter must not add any markings on their ballot or the envelope or add any foreign items to it, or else their vote may not be counted. If voters mistakenly spoil their ballot, they will not be issued another ballot.
