Iran Issues Diplomatic Note to Australia – Breaking News
Iran has expressed strong opposition to Australia’s recent sanctions targeting senior Iranian officials and institutions, calling them “unlawful” and “irresponsible”. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Australian Charge d’Affaires in Tehran to convey a protest note, highlighting that Tehran reserves the right to respond to the sanctions.
The Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on May 14 that it had decided to impose sanctions on 5 senior Iranian officials, including Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiyani and Quds Force Commander Ismail Qaani, in response to Iran’s alleged destabilizing actions in the Middle East. Additionally, Australia added 3 institutions and companies involved in Iran’s missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programs to the sanctions list, along with the Revolutionary Guard Army Navy.
In their statement, the Australian government cited Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel in April as the reason for the sanctions, aligning their actions with those of their international partners who have also imposed measures against Iran. Australia reiterated its commitment to pressuring Iran to cease its destructive activities and adhere to international law.
