Iranian Foreign Ministry Website Falls Victim to Cyber Attack

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs website was hacked by a group called “Kıyam ta Serneguni” (Kiyam Until the Fallen), according to reports in Iranian media. The hacker group claimed to have seized confidential documents, including identity documents, ministry correspondence, phone numbers and a list of thousands of ministry employees. The website reportedly went offline for a while as a result of the attack, but the ministry later released a statement noting that necessary precautions were taken and all service systems were actively opened to the public. Additionally, the ministry refuted claims made on social media that the leaked information belonged to them, calling it “false and baseless.” On the homepage of the hacked site, the phrase “Death to Khamenei, long live Rajevi” was displayed for a while, along with the photos of leaders of the People’s Mujahideen Organization, which is considered a terrorist organization in the country. Kıyam ta Serneguni had previously claimed to have seized 200,000 files and documents by hacking the website of the Islamic Culture and Communication Institution.
