Israeli Army Demands Evacuation of UNRWA Centers in Gaza
The Israeli army has requested the evacuation of five centers belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza, according to UNRWA Arab Employees Union Secretary Muhammed Shuveydeh. Four of these centers are located in Tel el-Heva in the southwest of Gaza, while one is situated in the Ansar Complex region in the west of the city.
The centers in question have been providing shelter for thousands of people who have fled the recent attacks. Shuveydeh emphasized that these people have nowhere else to go, which is why the authorities have refused to evacuate the centers. It is a matter of securing the safety and well-being of these individuals.
Sadly, on October 17, six people lost their lives during an Israeli attack on a UNRWA school in al-Magazi Refugee Camp. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of those seeking refuge in UNRWA facilities. It is crucial for the international community to address this issue and ensure the protection of innocent civilians seeking safety from the ongoing conflict.
This is not the first time Israel has requested the evacuation of vital facilities in Gaza. Earlier, the Jerusalem Hospital, located in the south of the blockaded region, received a threat from the Israeli occupation forces that it would be bombed. Palestinians in the area are living in constant fear of further attacks, undermining their access to essential healthcare services.
The Palestinian Red Crescent has issued a written statement expressing concern over the potential targeting of the Jerusalem Hospital. It is essential for all parties involved to prioritize the protection of civilians and refrain from targeting vital institutions that provide crucial services to the local population.
