Israeli Forces Bomb House in Gaza Strip, Causing Death and Injuries
Israeli forces have once again carried out a deadly attack in the Gaza Strip, this time targeting a house in the city of Deir al-Balah. According to reports from the Palestinian news agency WAFA, 10 people lost their lives in the Israeli army’s assault in the Mahatta region, with many others sustaining injuries. Among the casualties were babies who were killed as a result of the attack on the home of the Atrash family.
The Gaza Strip, home to approximately 2.3 million people, is facing a severe humanitarian crisis as Israeli attacks have continued for 158 days. The Israeli army has been targeting civilian settlements, hospitals, schools, and shelters where displaced Palestinians seek refuge, while also obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid into the region.
International organizations, including the United Nations, are calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and for an increase in the delivery of humanitarian assistance. The situation in Gaza has led to widespread hunger, thirst, and lack of hygiene materials, resulting in the spread of diseases. Most hospitals in the region are non-operational, and there is a severe shortage of medical supplies.
Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Gaza. Lazzarini highlighted the devastating impact on children, noting that the number of children killed in Gaza exceeds the total number of children killed in wars worldwide over the last four years. He emphasized that this conflict is a war being waged against children, jeopardizing their futures.
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, urgent action is needed to address the humanitarian crisis and protect the lives of innocent civilians, particularly children who are bearing the brunt of the violence.
