Israeli Artillery Fire Sparks Municipal Building Fire in Rafah
The Israeli army continues its attacks against the Gaza Strip, specifically targeting Rafah city with air and artillery fire, according to information received from eyewitnesses and medical sources. The town hall in Rafah was hit by continuous artillery fire, causing a fire to break out and serious damage to the building and surrounding structures.
The house of the Palestinian “Kışta” family in the south of Rafah city was also targeted, resulting in the loss of many Palestinian lives, including two children, and numerous injuries. Israeli warplanes further struck the house of the Abdulal family in the northeast of Rafah, as well as a house in the central part of the city, resulting in casualties.
Al-Ahli Hospital sources in Gaza city reported one fatality and multiple injuries from Israeli forces’ unmanned aerial vehicles targeting a group of Palestinians in the Zeytun neighborhood. Other targets included the house of the Reyyan family south of the Nuseyrat Refugee Camp and an attack in the east of Deir Belah, causing injuries.
Hamas’s armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced targeting the Israeli military zone in Netzarim with mortars and engaging in conflict with Israeli soldiers barricaded in a building in the Shawke neighborhood. Clashes between the Israeli army and Palestinian resistance groups continued in the east of Rafah city.
In response to ceasefire proposals from Qatar and Egypt, Hamas approved the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. However, the Israeli War Cabinet decided to continue attacks in Rafah despite this approval. The Israeli army requested the evacuation of certain neighborhoods in the east of Rafah, where forcibly displaced Palestinians sought shelter, and seized the Gaza side of the border gate with Egypt.
Since October 7, Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of 34,789 Palestinians, including 14,944 children and 9,849 women, with 78,204 people injured. Thousands are still trapped under rubble, and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and educational institutions, are being destroyed. The situation remains tense as clashes persist between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance groups.
