The Gaza Strip Government Reports Destructive Impact of Ongoing Attacks
The Media Office of the government in the Gaza Strip recently released a statement detailing the extensive damage caused by Israel’s attacks in the region. According to the statement, the attacks, which have persisted for 37 days, have resulted in the complete destruction of 41,030 houses and partial destruction of 222,120 houses.
In addition to the destruction of residential buildings, 92 government buildings and 241 schools have been seriously damaged. Of the 241 schools, 61 have been deemed unusable and are currently out of service. Furthermore, 70 mosques have been completely destroyed, and 153 mosques have been partially destroyed. Shockingly, three churches were also targeted during the attacks.
The impact on agriculture has been devastating, with an estimated direct damage of $180 million. More than 25 percent of the approximately 45,000 decares of agricultural land have been destroyed, and vital sources of income such as fruit trees and livestock have been uprooted and slaughtered.
Despite the ongoing attacks, medical teams and government officials continue to fulfill their duties. The government has vowed to support the Palestinian people in the face of the attacks and called on the free world to intervene and stop Israel’s actions, which are in violation of international law.
The statement also called for the immediate and permanent opening of the Rafah Border Gate, located on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, to facilitate the flow of aid and medical supplies into the region.
The government’s statement highlighted the urgent need for international intervention to put an end to the ongoing destruction in Palestine.
