Arab League Condemns Israeli Minister’s Nuclear Bomb Threat Against Gaza
The Arab League has issued a statement expressing deep concern over recent remarks made by Israeli far-right Minister Eliyahu regarding the possibility of using a nuclear bomb against the Gaza Strip. In response to these alarming statements, the Arab League’s Secretary-General, Abu Ghayt, sent a message to United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun.
In the message, Abu Ghayt emphasized that the Arab League views Minister Eliyahu’s atomic bomb threat against Gaza with great concern. He pointed out that more than 2 million Palestinians live in Gaza and that the mere mention of using an atomic bomb in the region is unacceptable.
Abu Ghayt described Eliyahu’s remarks as indicative of the levels of racism and extremism within the Israeli administration. He stated that such fascist language coming from an official in the Israeli cabinet is nothing short of madness. Abu Ghayt went on to highlight the danger posed by the Israeli Minister’s statements, noting that they reveal dangerous intentions and echo the views of some Israeli officials who call for further massacres against Palestinians.
The Arab League Secretary-General also called on the UN Security Council and its member countries to not underestimate Eliyahu’s threat of using a nuclear bomb against the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the need for the UN to fulfill its responsibilities and stop Israel’s attacks in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in order to prevent an increase in hatred and extremism in the region.
Eliyahu’s statement about the possibility of using a nuclear bomb on Gaza has sparked outrage both domestically and internationally. In response to the backlash, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended Eliyahu from cabinet meetings indefinitely. Former Prime Minister Yair Lapid called for Eliyahu’s dismissal, and the Minister later attempted to backtrack from his remarks by claiming that they were “metaphorical”.
The Arab League’s strong condemnation of Eliyahu’s nuclear bomb threat underscores the serious implications of such reckless rhetoric and highlights the urgent need for international action to address the escalating tensions in the region.
