Israeli Forces Raid School Sheltering Displaced Palestinians in Gaza
Recent reports from eyewitnesses and local media sources have shed light on a disturbing situation in the Beit Lahya region in the north of the Gaza Strip. The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan School, which had become a shelter for thousands of Palestinians fleeing attacks, was reportedly raided by Israeli forces.
Not only did the Israeli forces enter the school, but they also targeted anyone moving around the area with snipers positioned at high points. A Palestinian woman who sought refuge in the school shared a chilling audio recording with local media, detailing the events that transpired during the raid.
According to her account, Israeli soldiers separated men aged 15 and over from the rest of the sheltering population and detained them. The women and children were then taken to a nearby square where they were left hungry and thirsty in the cold. The school, which was home to more than 7 thousand displaced Palestinians, was reportedly under siege for several days before the raid took place.
The situation was brought to the attention of the public by a Palestinian citizen, Ibrahim Abu Riyash, who expressed his anguish over not being able to receive any news from his family members who had sought shelter in the school. He emphasized the presence of women, children, and injured individuals among the displaced population and highlighted the dire conditions they were facing.
Emphasizing the severity of the situation, Ashraf al-Qudra, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, condemned the actions of the Israeli forces, stating that the people confined to the school were being deprived of food, water, and medical treatment. He even mentioned that individuals who had died during this period were buried within the school campus.
The distressing reports coming out of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan School serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the devastating impact it has on innocent civilians.
