Israeli warplanes target water supply and main road in Gaza Strip
In the latest escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes have targeted essential infrastructure, including water pipelines and a main road, in an attempt to tighten the siege on the city of Khan Younis.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the water supply from Rafah city to Khan Younis was disrupted as a result of the bombing of the pipes pumping water. Additionally, the main road connecting Rafah and Khan Younis has been rendered unusable due to intense air attacks by the Israeli army.
This deliberate targeting of vital infrastructure by Israeli forces has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the region, as it hinders the delivery of aid and food supplies to the besieged city of Khan Younis. The actions of the Israeli army have been condemned for their impact on the civilian population, who are already grappling with the consequences of the ongoing conflict.
As a result of the intensified aerial bombardment and ground operations by the Israeli military, Khan Younis has seen a drastic increase in population density. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, displaced from Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip, have sought refuge in Khan Younis, contributing to an estimated population of approximately 600 thousand people in the city.
With the targeting of essential infrastructure and the influx of displaced persons, Khan Younis has now become the most populous city in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military’s actions have only served to compound the suffering of the civilian population, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
