Israeli Withdrawal from Al-Mavasi: Abandoning “Safe” Claim

Israeli Forces Withdraw from Mavasi Region in Gaza After 10-Hour Attack
Israeli forces have withdrawn from the Mavasi region in the west of Khan Yunus, Gaza, following a 10-hour attack. After their withdrawal, the bodies of many Palestinians were discovered on the roads and in agricultural lands, indicating the deadly impact of the assault.
The Palestinians were found to have been shot to death with firearms, and significant destruction in the roads, houses, and infrastructure in the region has also been observed.
The Israeli army entered the Mevasi region, located west of Khan Yunus, last night, resulting in at least 26 reported casualties as announced by the Palestinian official news agency WAFA.
The Mevasi region, which Israel previously claimed to be “safe,” is home to many displaced Palestinians living in tents. The Israeli army had urged Palestinians in Gaza city, and the northern and central parts of the Gaza Strip to relocate to this area.
The Mevasi region is divided into two parts – the part in Khan Yunus in the southwest of the city, extending to the vicinity of Deir el-Belah, and the part connected to Welfare, consisting mainly of agricultural lands and sand dunes in the northwesternmost part of the city. An estimated 9 thousand Palestinians reside in Mevasi, with 2 thousand living in the Rafah part of the region.
The recent events in the Mevasi region have once again highlighted the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in the area, drawing international attention to the urgent need for peace and resolution.
