The latest situation in Istanbul dams: İSKİ dam occupancy rates on 10 November 2023
Following the high temperatures in the summer in Istanbul, the dams were negatively affected by the drought in the autumn. Like many dams, Sazlıdere Dam has almost dried up. The dam, which had a 40 percent occupancy rate on these dates last year, decreased to 2.27 percent occupancy rate in the measurements made on the same dates this year. The latest situation in Istanbul dam occupancy rates was wondered again after the rains.
DAM OCCUPANCY RATES LATEST STATUS
While the amount of water in Sazlıdere Dam was measured as 2.27 percent, the highest amount of water was measured in Ömerli Dam with 35.55 percent. On Friday, November 10, the total occupancy rate of 10 dams in Istanbul was 16.51 percent.
– Ömerli Dam: 35.55%
– Darlık Dam: 27.17%
– Elmalı Dam: 16.94%
– Terkos Dam: 8.06%
– Alibey Dam: 15.91%

– Sazlıdere Dam: 2.27%
– Istrancalar Dam: 19.26%
– Kazandere Dam: 7.06%

It is clear that the drought has had a significant impact on the water levels in Istanbul’s dams, with many of them registering very low occupancy rates. The city will need to take measures to ensure sufficient water supply in the coming months.
