Colleagues from Japan Visit Kyrgyzstan to Discuss Forensic Cooperation
A delegation from Japan recently visited the Forensic Service under the Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan to discuss joint initiatives and collaborations. The meeting was part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of the two countries, signed during the state visit of Sadyr Japarov to Japan in 2023.
The Japanese delegation, led by Ryota Takemoto, the Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the Research and Training Institute of the Ministry of Justice of Japan, engaged in discussions regarding prospects for cooperation in the field of forensic science. The focus was on the exchange of experiences, the introduction of modern technologies, and the training of qualified specialists. Talantbek Kozhonov, Chairman of the Forensic Service, emphasized that international cooperation is a key focus area for the services of both states.
“We are interested in establishing close relations with Japanese forensic organizations in all areas of activity, including the fight against transnational crime, environmental and intellectual property offenses, as well as the investigation of man-made accidents that threaten national security,” Kozhonov stated.
Ryota Takemoto expressed plans for joint research and project implementation within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation in the near future.
Following the official discussions, the Japanese guests were given a tour of the Forensic Service to witness firsthand the wide range of examinations conducted by the service, which includes examinations related to handwriting, economics, construction, materials, substances, products, fire, linguistics, automotive technology, ballistics, and more.
The visit highlighted the commitment of both countries to enhancing collaboration in the field of forensic science and strengthening ties between their respective forensic organizations.
