
Japanese Firm to Construct Tunnel on Bishkek-Osh Highway

Bishkek – The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan has recently signed an agreement with a Japanese company as part of the project “Improvement of International Highways”. The signing ceremony was attended by various officials, including the Minister of Transport and Communications Absattar Syrgabaev, his deputy Beknazar Bazaraliev, Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda, and Chief Representative of JICA in the Kyrgyz Republic Kawamoto Hiroyuki.
The agreement with the Japanese company, Takenaka Civil Engineering, involves the construction of a 750-meter tunnel on the Bishkek-Osh highway at the 400th kilometer mark. Construction work is scheduled to begin in June 2025, as reported by the Ministry of Transport’s press service.
