Kazakhstan Boosts Trade Relationship with Turkmenistan through Increased Imports and Expanded Exports

Trade between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continues to show positive growth, with imports from Turkmenistan nearly doubling in 2024. According to reports by LS, the trade turnover between the two countries has seen significant improvements in key sectors.

The volume of imports from Turkmenistan reached 144.3 thousand tonnes, representing a 32.8% increase in monetary terms, totaling $220.7 million. Natural gas was one of the most sought-after goods, with deliveries increasing by 1.5 times to 608.3 million cubic meters.

Other notable increases in Turkmenistan’s exports to Kazakhstan include ceramic sanitary ware, plastic tableware, sulfuric acid, oleum, Turkmen furniture, clothing, bed linen, and tomatoes. These products have shown substantial growth in demand in the Kazakh market.

On the export side, Kazakhstan has also shown growth in various categories. Exports of potatoes, instant coffee, and vegetable oil to Turkmenistan have increased significantly in 2024. Additionally, there has been an increase in the export volumes of ferrous metals, asbestos, and barium sulfate.

In other news, Kazakhstan is considering participation in the construction of a gas pipeline in Turkmenistan, highlighting the countries’ commitment to strengthening their economic ties. The Ambassador has also expressed the goal of increasing bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to $1 billion annually.

With continuous efforts to enhance trade relations and explore new opportunities, the partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is poised for further growth and cooperation in the coming years.
