Kövér: A Decade of Progress – Hungary’s Best Years 2012-2022
House Speaker László Kövér praised the years between 2012 and 2022 as one of the most successful decades in Hungary’s history. Speaking at a summer camp for university students organized by the Rákóczi Association in Sátoraljaújhely, Kövér highlighted the uninterrupted economic development and increasing living standards achieved during this period.
Kövér emphasized that the decade saw remarkable achievements in various areas, including culture, defense, and nation policy, which have no direct parallels in Hungarian history. However, he acknowledged the challenges brought about by the war in Ukraine, which have resulted in everyday difficulties of both economic and political nature.
Despite the hurdles faced, Kövér reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to a pro-peace stance and criticized certain European governments for fueling conflict by having an interest in a prolonged war. He noted that Hungary’s position has put the country at a disadvantage, especially in an international environment where everything seems to work against the Hungarian government.
In light of these circumstances, Kövér underscored the government’s determination to continue on an upward trajectory and preserve the achievements made so far. Despite the obstacles, Hungary remains resolute in its efforts to maintain stability and progress in the face of external pressures.
