Kyrgyz Airlines Set to Be Removed from EU Blacklist by 2026

Kyrgyzstan Airlines May Be Removed from EU Blacklist by May 2026

The airlines of Kyrgyzstan are in talks to potentially be removed from the EU blacklist by May 2026. This announcement was made by Deputy Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency, Kanat Tologonov, during a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration of the Parliament.

Tologonov revealed that the director of the state agency is currently overseas on a business trip to address this issue. He emphasized that efforts to remove Kyrgyzstan from the blacklist have been ongoing for the past two years.

“The European Commission recently conducted a preliminary audit in March, which is a significant step forward. This audit has never been done before in our history. A meeting with the EC Transport Department is scheduled for May to discuss the results of previous inspections by ICAO and determine the timeline for the final audit,” Tologonov explained.

If Kyrgyzstan successfully passes all the checks during the final audit scheduled for this fall, a decision could be made in May 2026 to remove the country from the blacklist. This would allow Kyrgyz airlines to resume flights to EU countries.

The Kyrgyz Republic was originally blacklisted in 2006 due to inadequate control over local airlines and failure to meet international standards. As a result, Kyrgyz airlines have been unable to operate flights to EU countries. However, with ongoing efforts to address these shortcomings, there is hope that Kyrgyzstan may soon be able to regain access to European skies.
