Kyrgyz President Discusses Financial Cooperation with Bahrain Central Bank Chairman
During an official visit, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Hassan Khalifa Al Jalahma. The meeting focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in the financial and banking sector, attracting investments, and implementing joint projects.
President Japarov acknowledged the increasing demand for Islamic banking services in the country and proposed the idea of opening a new Islamic commercial bank in Kyrgyzstan with the involvement of Bahraini partners. This initiative aims to serve the business sector of Central Asia, which has a population of over 80 million people, and could potentially lead to the establishment of the largest Islamic bank in the region.
Chairman Al Jalahma expressed enthusiasm for enhancing collaboration with Kyrgyz financial institutions and offered training opportunities for specialists in the banking sector. The Central Bank of Bahrain is prepared to carefully review the proposal for establishing an Islamic financial institution in Kyrgyzstan, develop a cooperation program with the National Bank, and initiate joint projects.
The discussions between President Japarov and Chairman Al Jalahma signal a promising future for financial cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Bahrain, with the potential to strengthen the banking sector and promote economic growth in the region.
