Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Leaders Back Continued Border Talks
Kyrgyzstan’s President, Sadyr Japarov, and Tajikistan’s President, Emomali Rahmon, met on the sidelines of the EU-Central Asia summit in Cholpon-Ata city on Friday. The meeting aimed to discuss issues and prospects regarding the bilateral cooperation and priorities of the regional and international agendas between the two countries. The issue of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border was a significant topic of discussion.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the results achieved so far in agreeing on the draft line of the state border between the two countries in recent years. They also stressed the importance of productive negotiations and the search for mutually acceptable solutions based on mutual respect and trust.
In addition, the presidents emphasized the significance of maintaining friendly and neighborly ties between the two countries and resolving all emerging issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means.
