EFSD to allocate $1.45 million grant for development of taxpayer information system in Kyrgyz Republic

The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) has announced plans to allocate a $1.45 million grant for the implementation of the project “Development of a computerized information system for taxpayers’ classification ‘Taxpayer’s Ranking’ and a module of taxpayer’s digital profile in the Kyrgyz Republic. This project aims to improve the efficiency and transparency of tax administration in the country.

The project involves the development and implementation of a computerized information system for taxpayers’ classification and ranking using statistical and mathematical models. Additionally, a taxpayer digital profile module will be created. This profile will be automatically compiled by collecting and analyzing company data from various sources available to tax authorities.

According to the EFSD, this project will not only enhance the transparency of doing business and the quality of tax administration but also improve the overall business climate in the country. Companies will be able to evaluate potential counterparties more effectively, leading to a more efficient and trustworthy business environment.

During their visit to Bishkek, EFSD staff members met with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic. Discussions were held on the state of the digital infrastructure in the country and plans for its modernization in the coming years.

The EFSD has previously supported institutional reforms in tax administration in the Kyrgyz Republic. The legal framework for automating tax procedures was established in 2022 under $160 million stabilization financing. With this new grant, the EFSD aims to further enhance the digitalization of tax processes and improve overall tax administration efficiency in the Kyrgyz Republic.
