Tunisia Partners with Hungary to Enhance Railway Network

Hungarian Ganz Machinery Works Boosts Cooperation with Tunisia on Railways Upgrade

Hungarian Ganz Machinery Works has recently signed a cooperation agreement with its Tunisian counterpart to assist in upgrading Tunisia’s railways, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This announcement was made during a meeting in Tunis on Monday, where bilateral trade between the two countries reached a record high of over 270 million US dollars last year.

The Tunisian railway company has put out tenders worth hundreds of millions of euros for the development of its rail network and carriages, the minister noted. There is a strong interest from large Tunisian companies to collaborate with Hungarian partners in upgrading national and suburban rail lines as well as rail carriages.

In addition to this railway cooperation, Hungary and Tunisia are also looking to enhance their partnership in areas such as agriculture, the food industry, agricultural science, and water purification. The Hungarian minister also announced an increase in the number of higher-education scholarships offered to Tunisian students, raising the total from 200 to 250.

Further discussions on trade and cooperation are scheduled for later in the week, with a meeting planned with Tunisia’s Minister of Trade. This partnership between Hungary and Tunisia highlights the growing ties between the two countries and the opportunities for mutual benefit in various sectors.
