Kyrgyzstan to Increase Pensions Starting October 1

Pensions to Increase by more than 7% in Kyrgyzstan from October 1, 2025

On April 11, 2025, the head of the Social Fund in Kyrgyzstan, Baktiyar Aliev, announced that pensions in the country will be raised by more than 7 percent starting from October 1, 2025. This decision was revealed during a meeting of the Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction.

Deputy Parkhat Tulendybaev raised a question regarding the discrepancy between the current pension amount of 6,900 soms and the National Statistical Committee’s reported subsistence minimum of 7,663 soms for citizens of retirement age in 2024.

Baktiyar Aliev explained the process behind determining the increase in pensions, stating that it is calculated based on the average salary and inflation rate of the previous year. He mentioned that the budget has already accounted for a 7 percent increase, totaling 1,200 billion soms. However, the final amount of the increase will be decided based on the collection of insurance premiums in the first half of 2025, ensuring that it will be more than 7 percent.

In accordance with Article 44 of the Constitution, pensions and benefits in Kyrgyzstan must not fall below the established subsistence minimum. This increase aims to improve the quality of life for pensioners and ensure their financial security in the future.
