Kyrgyzstan Leads Central Asia in Sustainable Development Goals
Kyrgyzstan has been recognized for its efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by ranking 45th in the SDGs index, making it a leader in Central Asia. The First Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Choro Seyitov, highlighted the country’s commitment to sustainable development during a national consultation on the preparation of the 2nd National Voluntary Review (NVR) on March 28.
The Ministry of Economy has been actively coordinating efforts in the field of sustainable development, with a focus on economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Deputy ministers from relevant departments presented an analysis of the current situation in areas such as the economy, social policy, ecology, and public administration. Key areas of focus include expanding access to education and digital technologies, supporting vulnerable groups, and addressing social inequality.
The consultation served as a crucial step in the preparation of the NVR, which Kyrgyz Republic will present in July at the UN High-Level Political Forum. The ministry is working tirelessly to strengthen state policy in sustainable development, ensuring economic stability and the well-being of citizens.
The event brought together members of Parliament, representatives from the presidential administration, government agencies, international organizations, businesses, and civil society. Participants stressed the importance of consolidating efforts to achieve the goals outlined in the 2030 agenda. Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to sustainable development and collaboration with various stakeholders showcases its dedication to building a prosperous and sustainable future for its citizens.
