Kyrgyzstani Asan Zhanyshov Wins Bronze at World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships
Bishkek – October 24, 2024. Kyrgyzstani wrestler Asan Zhanyshov has made his country proud by winning the bronze medal at the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships among youth in Albania. The Department of Physical Culture and Sports confirmed this outstanding achievement.
Competing in the weight category up to 87 kilograms, Zhanyshov showcased exceptional talent and skill throughout the tournament. In the 1/16 finals, he defeated Venezuelan wrestler Brian Ruiz Marin with an impressive score of 10:1. He continued his winning streak in the 1/8 finals by defeating Vigen Nazaryan from Armenia with a score of 6:0, securing his spot in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Zhanyshov dominated Ukrainian wrestler Vladislav Dyagilev with a score of 6:0. Although he faced a tough opponent in the semifinals, Russian wrestler Aues Gonibov, Zhanyshov fought bravely but ultimately lost the match.
However, Zhanyshov did not let this setback deter him, as he went on to claim victory in the fight for the bronze medal against Payton Jacobson from the USA. His determination and skill were truly commendable, earning him a well-deserved spot on the podium.
