Israel’s Opposition Leader Criticizes Netanyahu’s Handling of US Relations
Israeli opposition leader, Yair Lapid, has spoken out against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to the relationship between Israel and the United States. In a statement posted on his social media account, Lapid expressed concern over the public disagreement between Netanyahu and the US administration and its potential impact on Israel’s security and foreign relations.
“The open disagreement between Netanyahu and the US administration harms the security of the state and Israel’s foreign relations, this is a lack of national responsibility,” Lapid said.
The tensions between Netanyahu and the US administration escalated after President Joe Biden warned that the killing of civilians in Gaza could decrease international support for Israel. In response, Netanyahu insisted that the US public’s support for Israel remains strong.
Citing a recent Harvard Harris Poll survey that showed 82 percent of the US public supports Israel, Netanyahu stated, “This will help us continue our attacks until victory.” Despite this reassurance, Lapid remains critical of Netanyahu’s handling of the situation, emphasizing the need for a more diplomatic and responsible approach to Israel’s foreign relations.
