Lawsuit filed against Knowledge Assessment Agency for unfair exam questions

A group of applicants who took the law exam this July have decided to take legal action against the Agency for Knowledge and Skills Assessment, alleging dissatisfaction with the questions related to legal sanctions. The applicants believe that the questions presented during the test were not part of the recommended study materials provided by the Agency, leading them to file a lawsuit. The case is now set to be brought before the Tashkent Interdistrict Administrative Court.

Representing the applicants, Attorney Mukhriddin Shamsiddinov highlighted the main issue at hand. He explained that the questions in the law exam focused on sanctions, such as penalties and prison terms. Shamsiddinov recalled his own experience as a university student, where professors discouraged memorizing sanctions as they were rarely needed in practical situations. He has taken on the role of legal counsel for the applicants in this matter.

This is not the first instance of dissatisfaction with the law exam, as previous applicants have also raised concerns about questions from laws and codes not included in the recommended study materials provided by the Agency.

In response to the complaints, the Agency defended itself by stating that it had already listed the recommended textbooks and study materials on its website, asserting that there were no deviations from the current state educational standards or curriculum. However, legal expert Khushnudbek Khudoyberdiev criticized this defense, labeling it as “nonsense and lies.”

The upcoming court case will delve into whether the Agency adhered to the national educational standards in formulating the exam. As the legal battle unfolds, the applicants hope for a resolution that addresses their grievances regarding the law exam questions and ensures fairness in the assessment process.
