Lebanon Supports Call for Ceasefire on Israel-Lebanon Border

Prime Minister Mikati Calls for Ceasefire in Lebanon
In response to the escalating violence between Israel and Lebanon, Prime Minister Mikati has welcomed the joint call for a temporary ceasefire. The official Lebanese agency NNA reported that Mikati emphasized the importance of Israel’s commitment to implementing international decisions.
A 21-day emergency ceasefire has been proposed by a coalition of countries including the United States, France, the European Union, and others. The goal of the ceasefire is to end the clashes between Israel and Lebanon and create space for diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
The Israeli army has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on southern Lebanese cities, as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions, resulting in the tragic deaths of 650 people since the violence escalated on September 23rd. Lebanon’s Health Ministry has reported the staggering number of casualties, while Foreign Minister Abdullah Buhabib revealed that nearly half a million people have been displaced within the country due to the attacks.
The situation has led to a significant wave of migration from the southern regions of Lebanon to the capital Beirut and other northern areas. The international community, led by the US and France, is calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life and pave the way for peaceful negotiations.
