License Plate Sales Skyrocket in First Half of 2024, Reaching 426.2 Billion UZS
The trade of license plates on the commodity and raw materials exchange in Uzbekistan saw a significant increase in the first half of this year. According to reports, the volume of sales tripled to a total of 426.2 billion UZS from January to June.
During this period, a total of 104.9 thousand license plates were purchased through the electronic trading system avtoraqam.uzex.uz. The surge in sales both in terms of quantity and value was substantial, as indicated by Spot with reference to the agency.
The data also revealed that 97% of the sold license plates were acquired by individuals, with the remaining 3% being purchased by legal entities. The prices of the license plates varied greatly, with the minimum price starting at 1.7 million UZS and the maximum price exceeding 500 million UZS.
One notable transaction involved the sale of the most expensive license plate to a legal entity in Tashkent for a whopping 517.14 million UZS. The price of this license plate soared by two-thirds compared to its initial cost. Another high-value sale occurred on July 10, with a license plate fetching 508 million UZS.
Looking back at 2023, a total of 87 thousand license plates were sold on the exchange for 396.1 billion UZS. The most expensive license plate during that period was acquired by a legal entity for 450 million UZS, slightly surpassing the previous record set in 2021.
The trend of increasing sales continued in the first quarter of this year, with the volume of license plate transactions reaching 212.2 billion UZS. The market for license plates on the exchange appears to be thriving, showcasing a growing demand for these commodities in Uzbekistan.
