Major Investments Inked at Tashkent Investment Forum

The third Tashkent International Investment Forum has concluded with a total of $26.6 billion in agreements signed, as reported by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. This marks a significant increase from previous years, with $11 billion worth of agreements signed in 2023 and $7.8 billion in 2022.

Some of the major investment projects agreed upon during the forum include Data Volt from Saudi Arabia’s plans to build urban infrastructure in New Tashkent and create a data center based on green technologies. Another Saudi company, Acwa Power, will build a 5 GW wind farm in Karakalpakstan, while Emirati Amea Power will build a 1,000 MW wind farm in the same region. Other projects include the modernization of the heat supply system in various regions, cultivation of sugar beets, textile and clothing production, and food production.

In addition to these agreements, new investment projects worth $6.6 billion were also confirmed with companies from Egypt, Hungary, USA, China, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Austria, and Iran.

The forum was attended by over 2,500 participants from 93 countries and featured presentations on regional energy projects, panel sessions, discussions, and events focused on supporting small and medium-sized businesses. Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, outlined measures to strengthen investor rights in the country, including adopting a new investment law, establishing an International Commercial Court, and extending lease terms for foreign investors.

Overall, the Tashkent International Investment Forum was a success, with promising agreements signed and a strong focus on promoting international cooperation and investment in Uzbekistan.
