Majority of Americans Believe Supporting Israel Requires Too Much Effort
A recent survey conducted by US News Ipsos on April 25-30 has revealed that Americans are divided on the country’s policies towards Israel. The survey, which included 2,260 adult participants, found that opinions were split on the level of support the United States provides to Israel.
According to the survey results, 38 percent of respondents believe that the US is putting in “too much effort” to support Israel, while 20 percent think that the support is “too little.” On the other hand, 40 percent of participants feel that the US is providing “the right amount” of support. Only 2 percent of respondents did not offer an opinion on the matter.
Comparing these results to a similar survey conducted in January, it was found that the percentage of Americans who believed “too much effort was spent” to support Israel was around 31 percent.
When asked about the US’s efforts to protect Palestinian civilians, 32 percent of participants felt that the US was doing “too little,” 26 percent believed it was doing “too much,” and 38 percent thought it was acting at the right level. 4 percent of respondents did not provide an answer to this question.
In terms of trustworthiness in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, 29 percent of respondents pointed to current US President Joe Biden, while 37 percent indicated that former President Donald Trump was more trustworthy. 33 percent stated that they did not trust either leader, and 1 percent did not offer an opinion.
The survey was conducted with English and Spanish-speaking adult participants selected randomly over the internet at the national level. These findings highlight the ongoing debates and differing opinions among Americans regarding US policies towards Israel and the conflict in the Middle East.
