MASAK Investigates Money Traffic Allegations at CHP Congress
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently looking into allegations of money traffic at the recent CHP congress. According to reports, some delegates were seen carrying bags full of money, which were allegedly used to buy votes. Witnesses are being interviewed as part of the investigation.
MASAK, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board, has been brought in to examine the flow of money related to these allegations. Investigators are trying to determine how the supposed payments for votes were reflected in bank accounts.
Additionally, the Prosecutor’s Office is also looking into claims of offering interest in exchange for votes on a particular issue.
Witnesses from the CHP are being called to testify, with delegates from Izmir and Istanbul being targeted for questioning. Former Mayor Lütfü Savaş of Hatay is set to give his testimony next week.
Following these inquiries, a decision will be made based on the collected evidence. If charges are to be filed, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office may bring the case before the Civil Court of First Instance.
In a related development, last week, Lütfü Savaş spoke out against the removal of current party executives. The legal process is ongoing, and a decision will be made once all evidence has been considered.
