Memorandum Signed to Boost Tourism between Kyrgyzstan and China
During the recent state visit of Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov to China, a significant agreement was signed between the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. This Memorandum of Understanding aims to facilitate group tourist trips between the two countries, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The official ceremony for the signing of the memorandum took place in Beijing, where Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov signed the document on behalf of Kyrgyzstan. This agreement is expected to boost the tourism industry in Kyrgyzstan, attract investment, and promote economic growth. One of the key benefits outlined in the memorandum is the official approval for China to send organized tourist groups to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The statement released by the Ministry of Economy highlighted the growing interaction between travel companies in Kyrgyzstan and China, leading to the development of joint tourist routes. It also noted a significant increase in the number of Chinese tourists visiting Kyrgyzstan, with 127,956 Chinese citizens arriving in 2024 – a 56 percent rise compared to 2023 when the number was 70,842 people.
This partnership between Kyrgyzstan and China in the tourism sector is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries and drive the growth of the tourism industry in Kyrgyzstan. It also opens up new opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit in the field of tourism.
