Miami police chief confirms preparations for Trump’s court appearance tomorrow
Miami Police Chief Manny Morales confirmed in a press conference today that the city is ready for the demonstrations expected tomorrow due to the scheduled court appearance of former President Donald Trump. Morales stated that they have taken the incident very seriously and are fully prepared to deal with up to 50,000 protesters, adding that they do not expect any security problems in the city.
In a 49-page indictment announced last week, Trump was accused of taking classified documents with him as he left the White House and obstructing federal investigations into it. Trump’s home in Florida was raided by FBI agents on the morning of August 8, 2022, to investigate “confidential documents”. He requested an independent review of the documents taken from Mar-a-Lago.
Trump is expected to appear in court at around 15:00 local time and then return to New Jersey, where he will make a public statement about the allegations against him at the Bedminster golf facility at 20:15 local time. Former Attorney General Jack Smith leads the investigations into both the “confidential documents” and the “January 6 Congressional raid” involving Trump.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez also stated that he has full confidence in the security measures taken by the police for tomorrow’s case. The indictment contains 37 charges against Trump, and former President, Wilkie D. Fergusson Jr., will appear in court for the indictment. Trump is expected to spend the night at Trump National Doral Mansion, which is located near the courthouse where he will appear in court tomorrow.
